When you are looking at objects at extreme distance, a spotting scope is the perfect answer. If a small size and weight is the overriding factor, the Magnaloux 12-36x50 compact scope is ideal. For digi-scoping, the Magnaloux HD100 is a great choice.

    The compact digital camera is attached to the scope by means of an adapter that clamps over the eyepiece of the spotting scope. Micro adjusters on the adapter centre the camera lens directly over the eyepiece. A small amount of telephoto zoom is required to produce correct results. After an initial set up it is easy to use. Focus is again done manually on the scope.

    The Universal Cam Adapter fits the Magnaloux HD50, HD80 and HD100 scopes.

    I must say the LC2 series which are nitrogen filled were fantastic! I packed a pair on one of my trips to Botswana and it proved to be a worthwhile investment as it weighs so little, so if you are lugging heavy bags, there is no reason why you cannot take this little beauty with you. I would strongly recommend the LC2's as a personal favourite, but for overweight bags and the like, I suggest bring a long a pair of the GTX's.
