Magnaloux Optics is extremely proud to support Second Sight, a low-profile high impact charity whose aim is to eradicate cataract blindness from the worst affected and most neglected areas in India by the year 2020.

For every Magnaloux MG 8x42 binocular sold online (our most popular model), we will donate £16 to Second Sight: the cost of giving or restoring eyesight to one cataract blindness sufferer in the states of Bihar and Orissa which have the worst blindness problem in the world.

Every £16 will go directly to Second Sight who spends no donated money on salaries, administration or office costs: all donations go directly to saving eyesight in-the-field. Nearly 100 experienced professionals, medical and non-medical, work for the charity, volunteering their time and skills and paying their own expenses to India

From its inception in 2000 by ophthalmologist Dr Lucy Mathen, Second Sight’s mission has been to eradicate cataract blindness from the most neglected areas in India, often difficult and volatile places in which to work. Huge steps have been made in achieving this ambition with Second Sight restoring or giving sight to over 100,000 women, children and men. But Second Sight aims to finish what it started: to totally eradicate this unnecessary blindness that adds to the dire poverty in India’s poorest areas and to achieve this by the end of the year 2020.
